Zinc is the traditional sacrificial anode material commonly associated with saltwater marine use.

Choose Zinc if:

• Your existing anodes are zinc
• You predominantly use the boat in saltwater
• You want to continue using the same anode material already fitted to your outboard

2 × Aluminium Anodes

You will receive:

2 × Aluminium 41106-ZW9-000 Replacement Anodes

Marine aluminium-alloy sacrificial anodes provide effective corrosion protection and are commonly used in modern marine applications.

Choose Aluminium if:

• Your existing anodes are aluminium
• You operate in salt or brackish water
• You want a modern marine aluminium-alloy sacrificial anode
• Your boat operates in varying water conditions

Important – Zinc or Aluminium?

We recommend keeping your anode system consistent.

Where possible, use the same sacrificial anode material throughout the engine/installation rather than randomly mixing zinc and aluminium anodes.

If you are replacing existing anodes and are unsure which option to select, choosing the same material as the other sacrificial anodes already fitted is generally the simplest option.

For unusual installations or predominantly freshwater use, check the manufacturer's recommendations for the appropriate sacrificial anode material.

What Does a Sacrificial Anode Do?

Sacrificial anodes are designed to corrode preferentially, helping protect expensive underwater metal components against galvanic corrosion.

They help protect components including the:

• Gear case / lower unit
• Underwater metal components
• Fasteners
• Other submerged metal parts

Anodes are service items.

They should be inspected regularly and replaced when significantly consumed, damaged or no longer providing adequate protection.

Never paint or coat a sacrificial anode.

The anode needs direct contact with the surrounding water to perform its intended function.
