These universal marine control cables are suitable for gear/shift and throttle operation on a wide range of outboard remote-control systems using the C2 / 33C / 3300-type cable configuration.

Ideal when replacing both the gear cable and throttle cable on a single-engine installation.

What's Included

Normally used as:

• 1 × Gear / Shift Cable
• 1 × Throttle Cable

Both cables supplied will be the SAME selected length.

For example:

Select 10ft → You receive 2 × 10ft cables

Select 12ft → You receive 2 × 12ft cables

Do not choose the cable length based on your boat size.

The correct cable length depends on:

• Position of the remote control box
• Cable route through the boat
• Position of the engine
• Transom configuration
• Allowance required for steering and engine movement

Always check your existing cables first whenever possible.

How to Find Your Existing Cable Length

Method 1 – Check the Existing Cable Marking

This is the easiest method when replacing old cables.

Look along the black outer jacket of your existing control cable.

There will often be a manufacturer's reference and cable length printed or stamped onto the jacket.

Look for the LENGTH marking.

If you can clearly identify the existing cable as the correct type and length, select the equivalent length from this listing.

Check BOTH cables.

Do not automatically assume your existing gear and throttle cables are the same length.

This listing supplies two cables of the same selected length, so please check both before ordering.

Method 2 – Measure Your Existing Cable

If the original markings are missing or unreadable:

1. Follow the complete length of the existing cable.
2. Measure the cable end-to-end, following the cable itself.
3. Do not measure in a straight line across the boat.
4. Convert the measurement into feet.
5. Compare your measurement with the available cable lengths.
6. If the measurement falls between available whole-foot sizes, select the appropriate next whole-foot length.

Example

If your existing cable measures approximately:

11ft → Select 11ft

If it measures slightly over:

11ft → Select 12ft

The important point is to reproduce the existing installation without creating tight bends or unnecessary loops.

Measuring for a New Installation

If you do not have existing cables to measure:

1. Start at the Remote Control Box

Measure from the position where the gear/throttle cable connects to the remote control.

2. Follow the Actual Cable Route

Measure along the route the cable will actually take through the boat.

Do not measure directly from the control box to the engine in a straight line.

Allow for corners and routing around obstacles.

3. Measure to the Engine Connection

Continue the measurement through the transom area to the throttle/gear connection point at the engine.

4. Allow for Engine Movement

For an outboard installation, allow additional cable length so the engine can turn freely from full port to full starboard without pulling or stretching the control cables.

5. Avoid Tight Bends

The cable should follow a smooth route without sharp bends or kinks.

Before selecting your length, check:

Existing cable markings if available

Existing cable length

Gear cable length

Throttle cable length

Cable end fittings

Control box connection
 Engine connection

Cable routing

Allowance for full engine steering movement

DO NOT ORDER BY BOAT LENGTH ALONE.

Two boats of the same size can require completely different control cable lengths depending on the installation.
