Important – Please Check Compatibility

Yamaha produced different starter motor applications across different engine generations.

Please do not order by horsepower or appearance alone.

Before purchasing, please check:

Engine is Yamaha
Engine is 55 HP
Engine is 2 Stroke
Engine is the applicable 2-cylinder version
Engine model
Engine year
Engine serial number
Original starter motor part number
9-tooth starter drive
Mounting points and electrical connections

Your original starter should correspond with one of the 697-81800 Yamaha part numbers listed above.

If the starter motor looks the same as yours, this does not always mean it is the correct one for your outboard.

If you are unsure, please send SSI Marine your engine model and serial number before purchasing and our technical team will be happy to check compatibility.
