Important – Please Check Compatibility

Mercury and Mariner produced different 30 HP and 40 HP engine generations, and not every engine within these horsepower ranges uses the same starter motor.

Please do not order by horsepower or appearance alone.

Before purchasing, please check:

Engine is Mercury or Mariner
Engine is 30 HP or 40 HP
Engine is 4 Stroke
Engine is the applicable 3-cylinder carburettor version
Engine model
Engine serial number
Original starter motor part number
9-tooth starter drive
Mounting points and electrical connections

Your original starter motor should correspond with one of the Mercury / Mariner part numbers listed above.

If the starter motor looks the same as yours, this does not always mean it is the correct one for your outboard.

If you are unsure, please send SSI Marine your engine model and serial number before purchasing and our technical team will be happy to check compatibility.
